Who I See
As a Therapist in Portland I primarily work with adults and adolescents but also have extensive experience working with children under the age of 12. Clients come to me with a variety of issues ranging from difficulties with their family, friends and relationships to parenting problems, divorce issues and/or job/school related problems. Some people come feeling depressed or anxious without really knowing why they feel that way. Most clients come wanting relief from things that are troubling them.
My clients tend to be curious or become curious about why things are not going well, and they want to make things better. Most often we are aware of only a fraction of what motivates us and what causes us to react the way we do. “Why do I feel so hurt when my friend cancels a date?” “Why am I so angry when my partner is late?” “Why do I feel crazy inside when my mother visits?”
We all act the way we do for a lot of reasons, many of which we aren’t even aware. Through the process of exploring these things, we get to know ourselves better and discover more of those reasons. When we know why, we can then be more aware of situations that trigger us and have more choice in how we respond.
